Birthday Girl!
Cake is good.
What we have here is a plain butter cake (made from scratch!) decorated with white chocolate ganache, mini flower sprinkles and pink marzipan shapes. There are two candles, because the birthday girl is two today!
The middle of the cake is a layer of the white chocolate ganache, with chopped turkish delight and strawberries. The Man of the House complained that the turkish delight, while delightful, interfered with his appreciation of the strawberries. I replied that the original recipe only called for turkish delight, and I added the strawberries myself to mitigate this fact. He looked startled.
We agreed that the Cake Mark II for the party will have a plain filling of cream and strawberries.
Unfortunately I messed up some of the instructions of the ganache and ended up with a slightly gritty, clotted texture. I’m hoping it will have smoothed out better by tomorrow, as I’m going to use the leftovers on cupcakes for Little Miss’s daycare group.
And for the party I’ll try to read all the actual instructions, not just the ones I think are on the page.
