Ham Glorious Ham
My father offered to bring the ham to Christmas dinner this year - which seemed a good idea to me, as we were planning a cold lunch with salads, meats etc.
My eyes almost popped out when I saw how huge the ham was. (I was raised by a single mother and we didn’t exactly go in for bulk meats at Christmas or any other time) Dad insisted that at two kilos, it was the smallest one he could find.
And, of course, he left us with the remains.
Well, we thought we’d be eating ham for a month, but it turns out that Little Miss is just ravenous for the stuff. She’s always had ham sandwiches for daycare, but usually of the shaved deli variety. Since Christmas, she’s developed a deep love for freshly sliced ham from the bone. “Cold ham!” she calls in delight when I offer her lunch.
The problem, of course, is that she’s dropped off eating vegetables again… carefully picking ham off the top of the rice or bread and leaving whatever vegetable stuff I have included with it. So here we go again. Sigh.
Back to fried rice with six different vegies tonight (and leftover sausages - fallout from the many barbecues at this time of year!).
I’ll have to look back over my earlier posts and see what I did that worked last time…
