It’s Not Easy Being Green
While we’re on the topic of greens, I have a scary Kids Dish anecdote to share. Raeli loves sushi. Actually, the whole family loves sushi. One day, the man of the house surprised us by coming home at lunchtime with a huge, decadent sushi box for the three of us to share. Yum! We were careful with which pieces we gave Raeli, choosing mainly the egg and avocado pieces that don’t have wasabi on them. Plus she’s not overly keen on the raw salmon… all the more for us!
And then, halfway through the feast, our little green-stained girl whipped a hand out and grabbed and handful of what she thought was avocado (same colour I suppose) and slammed it into her mouth.
Now, I can’t tolerate more than a scrap of Wasabi, and I honestly can’t imagine how painful that ENTIRE MOUTHFUL was, but to her credit, our girl didn’t cry. Well, she didn’t wail. Her eyes certainly watered!
Amazingly, once we’d cleaned out her mouth and face, she kept on eating the sushi as if nothing had happened. With cleaner sinuses, we must assume.
