Me me me me me

by Jackie

Sally from Living Without Meat tagged me for a meme. A long time ago I looked up the definition of meme and promptly forgot it. Ever since, whenever I see one I just think to myself, “me me me me me.” So this particular meme is quite fitting- 7 random facts about myself.

1. Except for a few instances of emptying out the freezer, I haven’t cooked meat in my house since some time in February.

2. I am not a vegetarian, I’m just too cheap to buy the kind of meat I’d feel comfortable cooking.

3. One of the freezer-emptying instances of cooking meat was last night- I cooked Moroccan B’Stillas, which is a kind of chicken and almond pie. Sam really liked it. Probably because of the almond sugar.

4. I am still mourning the loss of my chest freezer. My house has an enormous freezer in the basement that currently sits unplugged, saving us upwards of $40 a month on our electric bill. I suppose the $480 we’re saving a year could probably buy us a more energy efficient freezer.

5. I sweep my kitchen floor a minimum of three times a day. It sounds compulsive, but I often let Sam wander around the kitchen eating cheddar bunnies while I cook. He is a very messy eater.

6. I almost never remember to wear an apron when I cook, which is probably why almost all of my shirts have grease stains on them. I am a very messy cooker.

7. Speaking of grease stains, I have a basket overflowing with three loads of clean laundry on the floor across the room. It has been sitting there for days. I am very good at washing and drying clothes and very bad at folding them and putting them away.

Now the tough part. I have to tag people.

I’ll tag
Tony (which means I’m probably tagging Leina).
Stacie
Kelli
Chris, because I know he loves memes
Frank because he never posts anymore
and anyone else who wants to do it leave a note in the comments and I’ll check it out.

And since she just left a comment about Coconut rice, I’ll tag Gillian

OK, I already did this one, or one so close to it that I can’t tell. I’m excited to find your “other” blog though. I mean, like I don’t have enough to read, but trying to eat good food locally is my current project, and it’s not going well. My stupid CSA didn’t appear to have a pick up this week. Arrrghhh.

when they say it’s ove. Karolyn Leanne.

About Kids Dish

If you flip through the pages of a number of kids’ magazines, you get the impression that kids’ meals should be Michelin affairs, complete with matching dishware and veggies cut to resemble the works of impressionist painters.

Let’s be real. Parents don’t have that kind of time. And kids have to eat. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Kids' dish focuses on healthy, practical meal solutions for kids… and occasionally, that might mean matching dishware.
