Smoked Salmon improves Everything
Yesterday morning was incredibly stressful. I was determined to get just one or two things done on my thesis revisions, but technology and my own ineptitude conspired against me. The Man of the House offered to come home at lunchtime to help me, so I set out on the five minute walk to the supermarket to fetch lunchables.
It’s a rare luxury for me to have a drink in a cafe with a magazine, without a toddler. So I indulged.
And then I did my shopping, and emerged to find that winter had fallen. It was not just raining - sheets of water just crashed from the sky. Even if I purchased an umbrella (it wasn’t even cloudy when I set out!) I was going to get wet from all directions.
So me & my shopping camped out in the cafe until it looked safe to run home. I had to do it at super speed, so I could run down the hill to our house, drop off the shopping, fetch the pram, and run back up the hill to fetch the girl at 12:30.
I was damp, exhausted and had lost all my destressing points, so was pretty much back to where I’d started.
But on the bright side, we had smoked salmon and croissants and pesto and bagels for lunch, and the Man sorted my problem in about twelve seconds, and all was well with the world.
It’s hard to think of a day so bad *or* good that it couldn’t be improved by smoked salmon…
The supermarket was out of the 100g packets so I lashed out the $8 to buy 200g. We had the second half of the salmon for dinner, over spaghetti in spinach, ricotta and pecorino sauce. Even a day with smoked salmon in it can be further improved by additional smoked salmon!
