Thoughts at the end of a very, very hot day.
I love my magic rice cooker. Rice, chicken stock, white wine, leftover basil and spinach = yummy risotto. Add some oily fish over the top (tinned smoked mussels and sardines!) and you have a great, no fuss meal of basic sustenance for a ridiculously hot summer’s day.
Then, with your basic nutritional needs satisfied, you can gorge on watermelon.
Here’s hoping everyone I know is safe from today’s bushfires. And that they have watermelon in their fridge. Watermelon is very important.

Nope, I live in Tasmania, the island state at the bottom of Australia. It’s not as hot here as in the rest of the country, but it’s still high summer.
